Investiture
This morning I went to the Palace of Holyroodhouse for my MBE Investiture, and even better I had my lovely MrsCyclops, my wonderful CyclopsJnr, and my brilliant mum with me for the occasion. Here we are on the way out - you can see the Royal Standard flying signifying the sovereign is in residence! No photography allowed in the ceremony but we should get official photos in a few days.
There are quite a lot of people receiving awards so there is a bit of waiting around, but doing so in the surroundings of a palace was a novelty. CyclopsJnr did really well at being patient (as did MrsCyclops and my mum, but I think it should go without staying for adults, but not so much for an active 11-year-old).
It was lovely to meet the King and get my medal, and to see how pleased my family were for me. We went for a nice lunch afterwards at the Grand Cafe (at the Scotsman Hotel) and by the time we finished most of the day was gone.
Later I fixed the shower, and CyclopsJnr and I did some packing as we're heading north in the morning. Didn't need a kilt or a medal for any of that!
