"The land of a thousand lakes"

The German Lake District (Mecklenburgische Seenplatte), the largest coherent lake and canal region in the country, is rather different from its English counterpart - for me it has a Scandanavian feel, with flat water, reidbeds and wooden jetties.

What it does share is an uncommon beauty, reflected here on this canal leading to the Inselsee. As with the Lakes I know, they are sometimes dampened by showers, but are brought to life again as soon as the sun appears.

I think I´m going to like it here!
