Will and the Scythe

Today's the day ....................... to make hay

We have various bits of the garden where we let the grass do its own thing.  For that, we are rewarded with a colourful selection of wild flowers - and it saves on all that lawn-cutting etc that you would have to do to get the perfect turf with stripey lines.

It's about this time of the year when most of the flowers will have set seed, that Will does go out with the ancient scythe, to cut it all back and tidy it up for the rest of the summer.  It's hard work for him (see extra) - but apparently quite therapeutic, once you get into the rhythm.

In actual fact, we like our wild flowers so much that every year more bits of 'lawn' turn into meadow.  The second extra is what is currently growing in what you might call our 'best' lawn.  The clover, prunella and eyebright are just too lovely to chop .........................!
