The Departure

With yet more waving Alasdair and Susan slipped away from Stromness on the 11am ferry to Scrabster this morning but not before we had coffee sitting in the sunshine outside Julia’s café. This is the best day since they arrived and it will mean a lovely crossing and hopefully a pleasant run down to Elgin.
I have enjoyed having them even for that short time and I feel as though I have seen so much more of the Mainland than I would have otherwise.

Because of the tides and the time of the ferry leaving, I swam much later than usual, I was joined by Selkie Heather and we had time to bob about and chat in water that really didn’t feel that cold and under a sun that wasn’t making it as as fiercely hot as down south.

Once more I have consumed another ice cream and have now taken refuge in the garden with my play list and my book. It seems like siesta time on the high seas- there is no activity . It is just me, my music and a high tide on the other side of the wall.

I have featured the animals that have crossed my path today….. well, I crossed the path of the  trailer with the goats waiting to board the ferry.
