Snap, Crackle & Pop

Goodness me, it's been roasting hot today.  A and I walked from Kelling Heath to Weybourne Station this morning.  We were rather warm by the time we found a blissfully shady bench on Platform 1 at Weybourne Station to have our coffee.  There was a cooling breeze too, so we lingered a while in order to cool off and recuperate before the return hike.  Some of the route was under trees so not too uncomfortable but it was intensely hot on the heath.  We were accompanied by a mysterious 'popping' noise as we walked along before we realised that it was the sound of the gorse bush seed pods popping.  It reminded me of a certain childhood breakfast cereal whose point of difference was the 'snap, crackle & pop' sound made once milk was added.  An enjoyable walk despite the heat.

The photo is of one of the rather splendid carriages that stopped opposite our station platform bench this morning.  A rather lazy shot perhaps but I loved the colour of the livery.
