Dom doubles up...
A frankly ridiculous day at the Oval as Surrey ran up a record score of 820 for nine, beating the 811 they scored in 1899. 305 of those runs came from the bat of Dom Sibley, a feat of incredible endurance given that the temperature was well over 30 degrees. This shot is of Sibley pushing the ball through the on side to bring up his 200.
The day was made more memorable from a personal point of view by sharing and exceptionally pleasant lunch in the members dining room with my good friend Julian and his wife Jenny, who celebrated her birthday yesterday.
The Oval was livened up considerably by the presence of over five thousand children taking part in the annual schools day - they may not have known exactly what was going on but the noise they made suggested that they were enjoying it!
