Church on the road

Today folk from all six Church of Scotland churches on Mull and Iona met for a joint service at Pennyghael Community Hall on the Ross of Mull. This meant quite a long drive for folk from Tobermory and for P and myself from Dervaig (nearly 80 miles for the round trip) but it was well worth it. We had good weather for our journey and we enjoyed all the beautiful views of mountains, glens and coastline along the way. The service was thought-provoking and it was good to have time to chat afterwards over delicious refreshments with those whom we see only occasionally. We drove home via the Gribun Rocks where the road clings to the cliffs and stopped on the shores of Loch na Keal for our picnic lunch. Wildlife highlights were lots of gannets diving for their lunch from a great height, a seal creating a splash as it also looked for lunch, an otter taking a leisurely swim along the shoreline, several families of greylag geese taking to the water, and three white tailed eagles.
