Magpie Mine
It’s still been a very hot day but mainly cloudy with a light wind which made fairly comfortable walking around. We headed to Sheldon to visit the Magpies Mine. Unfortunately we took rather a long time to find the correct foot path but got there eventually.
There’s lots to photograph so we both enjoyed exploring the remains of the lead mine. It initially opened in the late 1700’s and was operational until the 1950’s.
After lunch we visited the Lathkill Dale weirs. They are situated in a steep side limestone dale with a small river at the bottom. It was a good choice as it was a very tranquil location with many birds and butterflies around and also a different type of photography.
