Gently down the stream

Lapwing chick (or, 'It's a big world out there')

This morning I went into town early for groceries and got home feeling very hot.  I had intended to go to the butterfly reserve after that, partly because it's always a degree or two cooler up there than down in the valley, but looking at the online forecast I realised it was even cooler at Lymington (about 4 degrees lower), which was all I needed to send me off there instead!

There aren't many chicks visible still on the Lymington Marshes, but I did see some lapwing babies of which this is one.  I have to confess it stole my heart.  It was looking very lost, but I guess mum wasn't in fact far away.

A lovely walk, a cooling drink then I rattled back on the train to this very hot little city.  The gipsies have moved on - I rather wished in some respects that I could too.

After Big Sis's birthday yesterday it's Little Sis's birthday today and it was my stepson's last Thursday - what a lot of birthdays!!

Have a peaceful evening all  xx
