Church view
We’ve had a very good morning at a church Eco service for our United Benefice at Denholme Shared Church, shown in this blip two weeks ago showing off their lovely display of peace doves as part of Bradford 25 city of culture.
The Eco church relates to how, as a Christian community, we can adopt sustainability in all that we do being aware of our actions on nature, our environment and have respect and love for them and for people. Plenty of good food for thought, though things we should be doing anyway.
The church was full, not least because it was the final service of our much loved Rector Richard. Speeches were made, gifts were given and then we all shared a brilliant lunch and Richard was given several Yorkshire Treats ‘cakes’ - he does like his food and cakes in particular!
When the farewell was introduced the interview he had at this church was mentioned where they said that the best thing about their church, apart from the people, was the view - ‘the best in the diocese’.
Well here is that view.
In the centre you can see Hewenden viaduct, now part of the Great North Trail. As a child looking from my home, just to the other side of it, I could often see trains passing over it.
Just beyond the viaduct is our village. You can just make it out set below the trees of the St Ives Estate.
A very pleasant if a bit of a sad morning, good luck Richard and H for your future over the hill in the Worth Valley.
Looking back a year you can see my last photo and blip of Bluebell before she disappeared.
