Winter...

………………………….....……Sweet

A flower with a beautiful perfume - this one was edited in the Distressed FX app.

Today was recovery day and for many locals in the Tasman district, a start on a major cleanup after two days of wet weather of epic proportions.

The Top of the South Island bore the brunt of significant rainfall with a state of emergency issued yesterday and which continued today.
For much of yesterday a number of state highways South and West of Richmond were closed - which also isolated the town of Motueka.
Today, as the water receded in the Motueka Valley, an area particularly hard hit, much damage to roads and properties was revealed.

Of concern last night was the extreme volume of water in the Motueka River and the possible risk to people and property living close by as it made its way from Tapawera to Riwaka. This necessitated an emergency mobile alert - a scary moment to those of us not expecting to be included in such a warning, but fortunately the water stayed within the river banks and we were still safely in our homes this morning.
