Dad has bought a record player...
...so I called for a cuppa and to help set it up with their little hifi. We gave it a test run with Chris Rea On The Beach, followed by Tears For Fears Songs From The Big Chair. It sounded good too :-) His hands have limited mobility but his determination to join the hipster vinyl records set has not been swayed thanks to the model he purchased operating the needle automatically, so all good.
Amongst some of my parents old collection from way back when was the debut solo album from Ringo Starr. His was the first album from any of the Beatles after they disbanded. We didn't have time to pop that one on the platter, but the lyrics book (extra) that came with it was really nicely done and sleeve notes were interesting too (see blip as Peggy-Sue looks on)
Track one featured Billy Preston, who contributed Organ to a couple of Beatles albums. Falling down a Billy Preston rabbithole also revealed that he played on The Heat Of The Night with Ray Charles for the amazing film of the same name! Track two features Marc Bolan on Guitar. I love T-Rex and am looking forward to hearing both soon...am just hoping the music doesn't disappoint.
