On Some Days

I Can Stand A Little Rain . . . Joe Cocker

We had a lot of rain overnight and this morning.  The forester went and assured Ann our neighbour that it wasn't washing away her upper garden under the hill.  He took a shovel and walked up the hill clearing a few parts on the track so the water ran down into the water table and then into culvets as it is supposed to.  He reported that the stream at Easby Park was close to breaching it's bank.  There were already council men with a digger there.  Bewteen the showers there was a spell where I could walk down two streets and snap these jonquils that I had admired on a previous walk.
We took pumpkin soup down to share for lunch with the sister in law and saw some surface water lying in paddocks.  Driving into our street we saw Kasper being walked by his house sitter.  Pete is coming down for dinner which will brighten up a wet and soggy day.  An excuse to make chocolate self saucing pudding and venison cottage pie.  Comfort food.
Happy weekend to all.
