In the words of May’s UK Eurovision no-hoper: What The Hell Just Happened?

As anticipated, June has been absolutely bonkers……and then some.

It’s been up there amongst the busier times of my life as I’ve juggled an increasingly stressful full-time job (now comes complete with additional meetings), a burgeoning relationship (there’s the kiss of death, right there), a play (went pretty well), some children (mostly mine), a malnourished and unloved (joking) dog (not mine) and a butt-load of birthdays.

I’ve watched on from the periphery as friends have experienced the extremes of happiness and today, sadness. It is not my story to tell, but I know that these friends sometimes check in on my blips and I want them all to know that I’m thinking of them in these sad hours.

I will also unashamedly use it as an excuse to remind you to hold the ones you care about and make sure they know just how much they mean to you.

I think, think the plates for which I am responsible are all still spinning as the month winds down. The bank balance is somewhat depleted, but everyone in the family seems happy and settled, which - particularly with those friends in mind - is worth its wait in gold.

No where else is that more evidence than with my parents, who today celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary* with an afternoon tea (courtesy of my sister and I) at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom**.

They sent us this lovely photo of them both prior to demolishing the afternoon tea. It clearly wasn't enough for them however, as later on they would join me and the wee ones for a slow cooker chilli tea and a catch up, which was a lovely way to end a busy day.


Very proud of them and remain in complete awe of anyone who is able sustain a loving relationship for that length of time.


Not long now and June will once again have passed - as all things do - but as for you, July, just let me catch my breath before you start getting all lairy, OK?




*I think they’re doing this marriage business all wrong though, I’ve had 2 in that time…..
