Dad’s looking serious!
It was raining quite heavily when I got up this morning at 6.45 but as I set off up to St Ives for the early walk, it was just damp and very muggy.
A good walk as usual, though with depleted numbers as some people are away. The grass was long in the field so quite wetting but full of clover and other wild flowers.
People were out playing golf and there were lots of ducks waiting at the pond - So far no ducklings this year?
The swan family were on land at the end of the pond and not showing any interest in the duck feeding. We approached quietly to get photographs and Dad swan seemed to be very much on guard as you can see here. Amazed to see how big the cygnets are now. It may appear that there are only 2 but the other three are partially hidden in the foliage by the water between the two mums.
I wonder if there has been an incident with a dog or something to make Dad appear so defensive.
The wind had got up as we returned to the village making it a bit fresher even with the sun out but we have also had a few showers since too. Another ‘interesting’ summer day with talk of another heatwave on the horizon.
