Reminiscing

A day of remembering things long past. In the morning I did some chores but listened to some old LPs (as they used to be called) including the one in the top left, Foxtrot by Genesis. Had not played it for years, and it brought back some memories of teenage years and early adulthood.
In the afternoon I travelled to London for a friend’s retirement bash, in a restaurant in Clerkenwell near to where I did my articles, as it was then called. The building where I was working is looking a bit sad and is up for sale and it started me thinking about how much of my life has gone by, 35 years since I worked there. I wanted to go back and tell my younger self about how things worked out and maybe some different choices that could have been made.
Then I went to my friend’s retirement dinner. Her firm were lovely in what they said about her, and she deserved the sentiments. We both spent most of our working lives in one law firm (different firms from each other) and it seemed to me that her firm was more appreciative of her contribution than others I have known.
