Beer Caves
Not what you might think but caves where Beer stone was quarried. We had a guided tour today which was fascinating. Beer Stone has been used on many well-known buildings, including Exeter, Winchester, St Paul’s and Norwich Cathedrals, as well as Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London.
Beer is a delightful place to visit. Like Sale in Cheshire, Googling the name sends you on thousands of irrelevant avenues.
The caves are uncommercialised. See photo.
The beach at Beer is very interesting. We last went there in 2012.E282 still there.
