Grave undertaking…
…..there’s no evidence on t’interweb to suggest this is a live business, so it may be a ghost sign. Given the costs and complexity of running a modern undertaking business, I’m guessing they just gave-up or retired. The excellent village history written by Jean Lawrie in 1974 points to many businesses that have since closed or gone online. For now, we remain well served by several shops, clubs, restaurants and cafes. Impressive for such a small country village.
Earlier, we gathered at Cockpen Churchyard to pop Aunty Kathleen’s ashes into the grave with her brother and Nana Renton.
