Nobody Here But Us Flamingos!

It was late afternoon heading into evening of another very hot day (high temp in our own yard for the day = 90 degrees F), when my husband shouted from the living room, "The deer is out front!" So I ran to the front window with my camera and took a bunch of photos through the glass.

This is the yearling white-tailed deer that has been hanging around our house of late. We watched as it strolled around Barb's butterfly garden, and drank from the white bowl that was Grandma Colyer's, that I put fresh, cold, clean water in each and every morning. It looked up at us, seemed to see me in the window.

It walked all around the edges, and then, finally, it put its snout into the garden, and ate. And then it stepped right in, which, of course, startled that pink flamingo to bits! "What! What's this? A DEER in the butterfly garden!" said the pink flamingo. And the deer looked up at me with a look on its face that seemed to say, "Nobody here but us flamingos!" 

Now, I was smiling a great big smile because big sister Barb would get such a hoot out of this! A DEER in her butterfly garden! My husband, not so much. He wanted to go out and chase the deer out of the garden, but I would not let him.

Husband: "After all of the MONEY you spent on plants for that garden, you might as well be feeding it dollar bills!" Ha ha ha! Ah, who cares. After all, it's only money. Right? Right? And this scene, this scene right here? Priceless!
