The winterless North
Well, I don't think many up here would agree with this statement, but there are a few flowers about. The black-eyed Susan vine confused me because of the passion vine leaves growing alongside it. The odd pohutukawa tree is still sporting a few flowers (see extra), and although tobacco weed shouldn't be here, its flowers are attractive (2nd extra). I found these flowers on my walk to Hihi Beach before breakfast.
I was a bit tired of driving along steep, winding roads, so didn't go far today. I met a friend who lives locally and we walked along Cooper's Beach and over the headland. Stunning views of Manganui and Hihi where I'm staying. Also towards the long stretch of Tokerau Beach. Great chat over a long lunch about entomological topics and the personalities entwined with them, past and current.
