Aqueduct at Elvas

Taken whilst we were trying to keep behind a friend heading for a restaurant for lunch. It’s incredible the lengths people went to to get water where they wanted it in the days before water pipes…. but having lived in a couple of communities where all water was either carried in buckets or in barrels on horse drawn carts I can appreciate why they went to those lengths.
