Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

A slightly earlier dog walk today because I had an appointment at Specsavers - my (free) annual check up. And what fun it was too! I had half an hour of the undivided attention of a very charming young Irish chap, who kept telling me, after all his tests, how marvellous my eyes are! They haven't been this good for many decades, if ever! Just one step down from 20/20 vision, so I couldn't fly an aeroplane. In fact I said I wouldn't bother with a check up next year, and we agreed on 25 years. Nice to know that ONE part (well TWO, technically) of me is working correctly!

I walked through Morningside and got JR a present. Took the bus up to Bruntsfield and walked home from there (6,865 steps). I hid the present behind my back, but she guessed straight away! HOW?

The top of the fly swat (for that is what it was) was sticking up over my shoulder. Actually, it was a present for me. I cannot stand if a fly is in the house - I go mad slapping the wall/window/tv/flowers with a wound up newspaper - always missing! Archie leaves the room - he gets worried when I act like a crazed person.

In the afternoon, JR took Archie out for a big walk - down to the Vennel Steps. Of course, the steps were crowded with tourists.

Lots of NEWS again today! Compulsive viewing. That and the tennis. Though I would have watched the cricket if I'd been able to...

Catching up with Hazel tomorrow, to hear all about her cruise. Christine is packing for her cruise this week, and Elizabeth is back from her holiday. Abi and Fergus leave for their new life in Copenhagen on Saturday. It's all GO round here!
