Dawn breaks on St Peter Port

P & O liner, Oceana sneaked into the Little Russel last evening at about 2000 and spent the night ready for her passengers to explore Guernsey today.
They have chosen well as the next few days will be hot and sunny for them!
They also had the opportunity to watch a 2nd World War mine being detonated by a Royal Navy bomb disposal team in the deep water probably not too far from where they are anchored.
The mine was one of six dropped around "D" day by the allies (Canadian, I think).
Quite significant as they weighed nearly 1000lbs.
They were supposed to hamper the occupying forces from using the harbour but obviously some went astray and this one landed ashore at Fort George, near what we call Bluebell Wood.
Found a (not very exciting) LINK of the detonation on UTUBE
This blip was taken around 05:30 when most of you will have still been asleep!
Have a great week!
8-)
