Hospital hedge in drizzle
I could have posted yet another waiting room photo but I liked the way this hedge looked through my car windscreen as I parked. It drizzled all day today.
I had a 12 noon Consultant appointment closely followed by a kidney nurse appointment. The consultant I saw was the FOURTH one I had seen. She was running a whole hour late. She told me she had only worked at the hospital for two weeks! At some point she opened my file to make some notes. She didn’t have a pen so didn’t write any notes!
My next kidney nurse appointment lasted from 1.30 until 3.30. I was told all about dialysis and the options. One was to go to the hospital three times a week, the other was home dialysis, which I have chosen. It can be done overnight. BUT my ‘scores’ have to show further kidney deterioration before I can start dialysis. So I have to feel more ill, then have a surgical procedure (waiting list) which takes 3 weeks to heal, and then wait up to 6 weeks to start. After all that I had hoped I would feel better. But I was told the dialysis would stop me deteriorating further but not improve my kidney function! The only thing that could do that would be a transplant. To qualify for a transplant I have to have been on dialysis! It’s a long road.
