Beacon Tarn

I'm on Lowick Common and  was quite surprised to find that this tarn was called Beacon Tarn because it's nowhere near Beacon Fell and the the tarn I often swim in. We won't be swimming in this one that's for sure. 
Looking at the map, I can see the  high point on Lowick Common is Lowick Beacon on which they will,  in days of old, have had a beacon for communicating,  possibly with Beacon Fell 6km away. 
I was bimbling round Lowick Common with N from the  Tuesday crowd who also can't walk far at the moment. .  Needless to say neither N nor I couldn't manage the top of Lowick Beacon today although I have been there before
