Arizona Dreamin’

Bronzed cowbird

The weather here is stunning. The high temp was about 90/32 with a sunny blue sky and a slight breeze. Coffee and breakfast on the porch, watching the hummingbirds at my feeder, and listening to others in the distance is a really nice way to start the day.

I've only photographed a bronzed cowbird once before.  They've migrated to SE Arizona for breeding season. Here is their range map.  They are stunning black birds and that eye is piercing.  I forgot to bring my computer glasses so I'm hoping it's in focus.  I know that the eye of the  extra isn't as sharp as it could be but I thought I would toss it in.

I met a lovely woman who checked in this afternoon.  We talked for quite a while.  Also had a chat with an interesting man from another casita.  A Tucson woman was on the overlook with me and proceeded to identify every bird.  This after I mentioned that I really only have trouble with LBBs (little brown birds). She was trying to be helpful which was nice of her.  The staff and owner knows me and treats me well.  Fire restrictions are in place so I can't make any charcoal fires.  Steve was nice enough to let me use his small propane grill.  Off to a great start to my staycation.
