Tompkins Park

Another Friday flies by with work but giving more opportunity to explore the LES where we are staying. We went for a wander in Tompkins park and found out about the history of the place with its revolutionary protests and punk background. Inspiring people peacefully standing up for what they believe in the face of oppressive government and police forces behaving immorally and illegally.. A spirit we need more of in today's society.
This area has so much going on and is a great contrast to a lot of the blandness that occurs across the rest of the USA. Little community gardens fill the spaces between buildings and creatives make it an amazing place to be. An evening tour of the nightlife showed how alive and varied the area can be.
