Looking Lovely in Pink

Also available in white.

This is musk mallow, Malva moschata.

According to Google, this flower is native to the south of England and I certainly saw it on previous visits to Sussex and Cambridgeshire.

I first saw it in Fife about 15 years ago but have encountered it more frequently in the last couple of years.  Now that may be due to climate change but I have an alternative theory:
Google threw up many links and adverts for native wildflower seed mixes that incuded musk mallow.  More people are buying these and planting them so there is very likely an increased population in local gardens, which, in turn, increases the chance of garden escapes occuring.
