Mostar

A long, sweltering day of historical and cultural insight. Driving (in a coach) through the mountainous, lush landscape of the Herzegovina region to visit the medieval city of Mostar.

This is a view from the old bridge (the bridge itself is in extras). It was destroyed when the western Balkans were at war in the 1990’s. So the new old bridge is a reconstruction of the original.

I love that I learnt so much today. We also visited a Dervish house from the 15th century in Blagaj, where we also had traditional coffee. The people of this region are friendly and welcoming.
