tortoiseshell butterfly

arrived home this afternoon feeling rather shattered after little sleep on the flight. The garden is looking rather overgrown but the bees and butterflies seem to be enjoying it. I usually only see plain white or blue butterflies but this one was all over this cineria. I pulled several pieces of cineraria out of the compost heap at MG after they cleared their bedding last year. I didnt think it would survive the winter but has thrived.
