Claire, aka Folkiebooknerd

I was away for some days without wifi, and I had some back-blips to post, but when I saw and read the beautiful tribute her brother made, I didn't care to post any of them. 

Here instead is Folkie, ten years ago in Staithes, in the light of the setting sun. 

She did good work in the world. She cared about class, justice, fairness, people who've been shoved to the margins, trauma survivors, gender identity, mental health, and of course, music and photography. She made two CDs for me when I told her I'd never heard of June Tabor. Claire was a genius at portraiture, especially of her friends Su-May, Jill, Tayo, and Sarah; her mom and brother; and self-portraits. When we were in Staithes together, she made my all-time favorite portrait of Sue and me (Extra). She did a great job also with her own best beloved.

The world will miss her energy.
