Godetia, Salvia and Buddleia

Doesn't quite have the same ring as the Simon and Garfunkle tune, but they make a nicer arrangement than parsley, sage rosemary and thyme!
I got the godetias at the Farmers' Market yesterday. I must do some research to see if we can grow godetia here. They are such pretty flowers. The salvia and buddleia came from the garden...along with quite a few ants. 

We had quite a parade of ants into the bathroom but I put out the last little ant trap filled with some kind of sticky substance and it did the trick. The bathroom is free of ants and I hope I managed to rinse off most of the ants that hitchhiked on the flowers.

Note to self: Buy more ant traps.

We managed to get out for a walk to Spike's meadow this morning. It's awfully dry, but it's been well mowed so there aren't a lot of stickers. We met a nice group of cyclists resting after the steep uphill climb. One of them offered me his elbow as I made my way down the steepest bit. I thanked him for being such a gentleman but demurred, saying that my husband was never so chivalrous and I was quite used to it. The man's wife looked at me and said, 'he never offered it to me...'

I tested out the 'baking center' I created a few months ago on the counter on the top of the washer and dryer because the stand mixer is too heavy to lift, but declared it less than a success. We had to elevate the counter to accommodate a new washer and dryer and it's now really too high to be a useful work surface. It's also just inconvenient. I didn't have my phone in my pocket, but I probably added a mile or two to my step count trekking back and forth between the kitchen and the laundry room/pantry which was mostly just frustrating.

The only comment I have to make on Trump's latest move is that I'm convinced he is taking us all into jeopardy because his military parade was a flop. If he weren't so dangerous, he would just be pathetic....
