DerelictWeek - Dehydrated
I slept through the alarm again this morning, which is something that’s been happening a lot lately. A combination of being overloaded with too much to get done and not coping well with the heatwave.
Fortunately I wasn’t on any kind of duty at church for a change, and made it there in good time to sit in what I jokingly call my “family pew”. It’s where Mum and Dad used to sit every week for a decade. After Dad died I took his place next to Mum for a further eight years until her death. I find it comforting to be in that same spot now, though sometimes someone else may have already got there before me who isn’t aware of my story.
I decided not to do any re-organising at home this afternoon, so have had a bit of a break interspersed with doing a couple of loads of laundry. Unfortunately when you live on your own with nobody else sharing the chores, there’s not really such a thing as a complete day off.
Many thanks to Marlieske for hosting the DerelictWeek challenge. My derelict blip is one of the last from the first flush of yellow roses next to the front door, which I will take my secateurs to in the morning. It will have another lot of blooms in a few weeks’ time. The rose is looking as dehydrated as I’ve felt these past few days in the sweltering heat!
