Sweet tooth
I talked about 'tunas' the other day in relation to prickly pear cactus. Today, tunas are (or are in the process of) developing on this saguaro. Again, they grow after the flowers wither. Here they are in one of three stages: dead flowers, green tunas and at least one on it's way to turning red. In short, tunas are the seeded fruit of the cactus. This Gila woodpecker has poked a hole in one to get to the tasty treat.
I was really far away and cropped it as closely as I could. It was very windy so it's not as tack sharp as I would like it.
The homeowners association held and ice cream social this afternoon. I stopped by, feeling that making an appearance would help the cause. Turned out that I wouldn't have been missed. The place was packed. I met a couple who has lived here only a month and to my surprise they are on my street!

When I get a dog I'm going to name him 'Five Miles.'
That way I can say I walk five miles every day.
