Unbelievable

Returning a favour today. 
A friend who is an artist wanted some pics of Striding Edge and Helvellyn from a different angle, hopefully with the drone. 
Lots of pictures taken but far too windy for my level of pilot skills :-(
I knew it would be busy, but today was the 'spare' day I had, so I set off early. 
But. 
Cars double parked along the lake, in a relatively small van I found it difficult to get past. 
On the hill there were masses and masses of people more than I can ever remember seeing. Many of the young men were topless, no backpacks, so I guess no water, or waterproofs? Many probably didn't think they were needed - and then the heavens opened. 
I got the pictures and called it a day. On the final stretch down to Patterdale I helped a runner who had gashed her leg and was limping badly. We arrived at the cricket ground just as her husband drove in, it had taken him an hour to do the 15 minutes from Penrith.
