It is very hot and muggy today with a warning for thunderstorms and torrential rain/hail later on. Our alstroemerias are starting to flower.
This morning, we managed to inadvertently disturb the start of a (fortunately at such an early stage, still small) wasps nest in an old garden waste bag. We heard buzzing when we picked the bag up and thought there might be a single wasp inside so tipped the bag upside down and the nest fell out onto the lawn! We sprayed some water on it which seemed to persuade the wasps to abandon ship and then broke it up and disposed of it. We didn’t want so many wasps in a nest in the garden with our grandchildren often being here. Hopefully we have persuaded them to go and build a nest elsewhere.
