Tekapo
It’s late, like 10.45 pm….we've had a huge day.
Left home mid morning, a necessary stop at the Fairlie Bakery for a pies for us all, not just any old pie, the bakery is world renowned for gourmet pies. Today there were queues of hopefuls well out on the street. We were lucky to find a table thankfully. Next stop Tekapo, still some snow on the ground but nothing like two weeks ago.
We went for a walk waiting for 2pm when we were allowed into our large apartment.
My blip is us in a very nice bar and restaurant waiting for drinks and some simple foods to satisfy us as dinner was expected to be very late.
At 6.30 we boarded a bus and drove up to Mt John to take part in the 2 hour Dark Sky Summit Experience. We were so very fortunate that we had clear sky’s, someone said it was -5° . We were given big and thick coats to keep us warm.
This tour was given to Doug for his 80th birthday from the family. It was amazing, although some of the information was beyond me. We were given opportunities to look through three of the big telescopes, took me a bit to get my eyes adjusted. What I saw was incredible. Thanks family. No photography up there.
And now that we’re back in our apartment, had dinner we’ve watched our Crusaders win the final against The Chiefs, a North Island team. So an awesome day, ending with the rugby win.
