BBQ at Sue and Ashley's
Eva had a great night sleep again bless her, waking around 8am, and hadn't woken all night.
For breakfast, she had her usual toast crust soldiers, and I put her some melon cut into strips with a bit of skin left on one end to make it easier to hold, and some satsuma broken into quarters, and I picked some of the segments open so she could get to the fleshy part without having to bite through easier. She absolutely loves sucking on all of it, but I was very excited this morning, as I could have sworn I saw her swallow a small piece of melon waheyyyyy :-)
Nanny Nash and Ellie popped round in the afternoon to see us and helped with Eva while I went to get ready to go to Sue and Ashley's BBQ. Today's pic shows Eva sat all ready, waiting to go, in her pretty dress that Aunty Liza bought for her.
Had a great time at the BBQ, and as always, Sue and Ash put on a fabulous spread, including desserts mmmmmm. Eva even sucked on her first strawberry. It was so lovely to catch up with people we don't get to see that often, like Sue's mom and John, Matthew and Donna, Chan, Vikki, Sharon, to name but a few (and Sue and Bebe of course but they go without saying). And it was so nice to show Eva off, as a few of the gang hadn't met her yet. I am such a proud mommy.
Bebe was a proper little cutie, she gave me the guided tour of the garden showing me her new big girls swing and slide and pointing out her old smaller slide that she has now given to Eva, and showing me her Wendy house and the pond where the frog lives. She is getting so big now, it's lovely to hear her chattering away, and she has started calling Eva Eva instead of Ivor awwwwww. Bebe also gave Eva 3 of her old toys which I did nearly cry at that point. She gave her a little pink beanie bunny, a cream snuggle bear and a dolly. Such a lovely thing to do.
It was so great to have a natter with Sue, we don't get to see each other as much nowadays.
It was a shame that Eva was so unsettled while we were there though. As we were leaving to go, she was struggling to keep her eyes open, and I wondered if I should put her down for a sleep and go late, or let her sleep in the car and she'd stay asleep once we got there. I opted for the latter and think it was a mistake. She woke as soon as we got there and was shattered, poor thing. There was a lot going on and a lot of people, so she just wouldn't settle. Mike and I took her aside in the end and snuggled her on my lap wrapped in her crochet'd blanket with her dummy, and I rocked her to sleep. She had about half an hour, that's all. Still, we had a good catch up with everyone and left about 6.30pm, new slide and toys in tow.
It was pretty much bath, feed, cuddles and bed when we got back, she was absolutely shattered.
