Sn3 Layout wiring
Hello again! It has been a while but not sitting on my bottom. After I got the N Scale layout up and away. I kept several of the building scenes because I liked them - put them on a shelf under the Sn3 layout.
I have ran a couple of main electrical service lines. Red and green 14 gauge are sent through the cross wood with a small amount of twisting the two lines. This helps eliminate problems when the DCC commands come along the wire. In the rear of the layout there is a black and white pair that will power the switches or turnouts to some folks. I like using DC there instead of DCC to run the switch motors - more wire but foolproof.
Today I finished wiring up the NCE Switchit-8 boards - in the blip. Each board will be screwed onto the frame shortly, and bring the white and black service to the two red and green wires coming out of the top of the boards. The maze of black and white wires coming out of the bottom of the boards will carry the DCC power to each switch motor to throw the switch when told to.
I will number each of the switches on the panels - 1 through 29. Once we have track and switches installed on the base and wired, the NCE hand-hold control will be able to change each switch when ever you want to with out reaching over the layout. Both the old N and Sn3 layouts had this system and it works well.
Next step is to finish the NCE DCC control drawer ( at at top of the blip) and bring DCC and DC power to these boards. I am itching to lay track and at least a short locomotive run.
