The Pentice
The information on the explanation board says ‘This group of buildings with a covered walkway is called the Pentice. The properties grew up along the northern boundary of William the Conqueror's palace, and encroached onto the road. As a result the High Street is at its narrowest here. Until the 13th century, this area was used by moneyers and called the Mint. Later in the Middle Ages it became the Drapery centre of the City's cloth trade.’
I love that it is still there. If you look closely you will see a Frenchie.
I’ve volunteered for the Winchester Basics Bank. It can be very difficult talking to some of the people that need help from the charity. It can be very moving.
In the afternoon I’ve started the dough for a sourdough loaf.
In the evening Nigel and I had dinner in the garden.
