Booky Goatherd

Friday: Ham House

Our resolution to make the most of our National Trust membership took us to Ham House today, one of our nearest NT properties.  We had a wonderful stroll in the gardens and enjoyed an iced coffee at the cafe.  There’s also a fabulous second-hand bookshop and we bought some excellent Penguin paperbacks with wonderfully dated covers.  We’ll do the interior of the house another time.

This evening we went to the pub for the first time since early April.  It was lovely to see everyone and begin to have some social interaction again.  We’re still being careful as regards K’s compromised immunity but warmer temperatures and being outside definitely makes things easier.

And finally, like so many others, I am so sad about the loss of Folkie.  I only met her a handful of times but felt very connected to her through our friendship with her brother, Rocknerd, and also her Aunt V and Uncle E who are such good friends to us from our years in Vancouver. Her blips were always so interesting, full of social conscience and with many things to share about life, music, books, friendship etc.

As I’ve seen written elsewhere, we could all be more Folkie.
