Shai-hulud?

Whenever I see an open courgette flower like this, it makes me think of the open maw of the giant sandworms (Shai-hulud) from Frank Herbert's 'Dune' (as interpreted in some of the earlier book covers and film versions, rather than the more recent film versions).
