The Lads of Liverpool (a tribute to Folkie)

I mentioned earlier in the week a bereavement, someone I knew IRL as Claire as I am close friends with her beloved wife, P, but who was known on Blip as Folkie.  I hope that if you knew her, this is not news to you and I am truly so sorry if it is. I know she was part of a big community here, and while I had followed her Blip from links a few times I'd never joined as I didn't own a camera.  Her brother, the wonderful RockNerd has shared a beautiful tribute here:

Her untimely passing earlier in the week coincided with the completely unexpected  - but that's the way the world works - birthday gift of the camera from my wife the next day, and there was only one place at that point I felt would be a fitting place to come and learn some camera skills. And thus I landed on Blip at the start of the week.

So it was I found myself on the way into Liverpool this morning to meet a friend for breakfast before heading off to meet P, crying my eyes out in the car as Belinda Carlisle's "Leave a light on for me" played on the radio, and thusly finding out that I am not yet ready to listen to the radio (and probably not that song, ever again).

Anyway, I had taken my camera because - well, I had learned from the best, if you are going places you need a camera with you, and we had done more Wirral based walks while Folkie was snapping away than not, so I thought, well there's a million things to photograph on Bold Street (where I was meeting my friend) and I'll capture something for today's Blip there...

While I was busy taking photos of bits of buildings, these three lads came up to me and asked - would I take their picture.  I mean sure, I've only had the camera since Monday but you know, I'll give it a go.  It was just a lovely moment that captured what Liverpool is about so well. Random encounters with strangers who come along and cheer each other up.  And that's been my experience of my first Blip week as well.  Lads of Liverpool - thank you, your timing was perfect and Folkie would have more than approved. I'm sorry the photo isn't better, and certainly nowhere near the artistic standards she would have acheived - at this time, I'm just glad you were in focus enough for me to be able to post the picture!

But this is my photo for today.  Capturing the wonderful, silly, random part of my day is my tribute to her, Gorgeous Folkie, and P, and the kindness of strangers.
