merchant city (210/365)
I love Glasgow. I love her spaces & places... her sights & sounds... too. most of all, I love her people.
tonight I had the opportunity & honour to serve Glasgow's homeless with soup, rolls, cups of tea & coffee... giving to them without any expectation. listening. being there. helping where possible.
the Salvation Army's soup van is a noisy addition to the street just outside Borders on Buchanan Street on a Wednesday night... but one that seeks to help... to give to those in need... without any agenda other than to ensure good soup is sticking to the ribs of as many folks as possible.
thing is... we receive so much in return. the folks we serve are grateful for any assistance & are always polite. their "please" & "thanks" would put us to shame... it does me.
what's more... they just are so appreciative that someone cares... someone gives a damn... someone is there to ensure they aren't left behind. that's powerful.
I'm just honoured to be part of the team.
