Living my dream

Dappled apple eater

Bean didn't need apple in her veg and fruit gloop with her supper: she snaffled two at S&N's property while we stood chatting.

The gloop therefore contained silverbeet, cabbage, nasturtium leaf, mint, marjoram, rosemary, rocket, sorrel, celery, carrot, cucumber, raspberries, blackcurrants, honey, low fat yoghurt, an egg white and marmite. See the extra.

She gobbled it up. Happy dog.

I had a dairy day, having collected 10 litres of milk from the coo shed yesterday afternoon. I skimmed off almost a litre of cream first thing, ready to make butter. Yoghurt was made with the first litre of milk, and the next four I pasteurised and put into the fridge, for drinking over the next week.

This afternoon I made two Feta cheeses and a potta whey Ricotta. It is months since I last made Feta. I favour other cheeses, but it will be a good addition to my Nelson friend's birthday bag of cheeses which will be mailed next week.

I had intended to churn the butter before the end of the day, but I have run out of puff. Tomorrow...

In between cheese action I mowed up all the dead veg plants and put it onto the compost heap, which I will water tomorrow to give the bacteria a good start.

A full and happy day.
