A grand day out...
....to celebrate our 70th birthdays...
We four gathered at Newcastle station to catch our train - party leader Rose had arranged the tickets, and everything ran smoothly.
Sipping champagne - courtesy of Christine - as we travelled along the Tyne valley, we appreciated the weather and the views, and each other's company.
Next stop Carlisle and an excellent lunch at the Alexandros Greek Restaurant - definitely worth a revisit! Our lovely waitress took the shot of the four of us amongst the detritus...
A stroll in the sun to the cathedral gardens, and a table in the shade accompanied by Lakeland ice creams followed.
An explore in the cathedral - amazing ceiling - and back to the café gardens for a cuppa. The staff were so friendly, and gently guided us old ladies to another shady table when we were looking indecisive ;)
A cheery passer-by volunteered to take our photo in the gardens, before we wound our way back to the station for the return trip.
A lovely time was had by all, and we're already plotting a day in Hexham in the run up to the day that shall not be named yet for another lunch ;)
