2025 Tuesday — First & Five
I have never received a photo announcement from a package carrier; today was a first. I have many times been contacted with the messsge my shipment is ready for shipping or has been shipped or is in transit, but never have I received a photo showing me the package and that it is sitting on my property. This was a first. What’s in the package is then mentioned in the next paragraphs.

Five years ago today was my first day of retirement. It was a fun day and a grand way to begin. Today was ditto that.
A friend asked me this evening, "Do you look back?" My answer, "If you mean 'look back' to wish I was still teaching/working — not at all. I loved teaching, and especially when I could see the lights go on inside a student’s mind. BUT over the 30 years that I taught composition (essay writing), the grading was exasperating. I loved my career, and I’m thankful God allow me to have it; however, I love my retirement even more.
Retirement is a HUGE transition. The main goal I had as I entered retirement was that I never wanted to say “I’m so busy, I don’t know how I had time to work.” I wanted time off.
Now at the 5 year mark, I'm enjoying having a fairly free schedule. Yes, there’s cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, and making sure Mr. Fun stays out of trouble. I don't do a lot of volunteering and I don't feel guilty.
I thoroughly enjoy my BSF group, writing, and now beginning to learn a new language = music (inside the box/package on the porch, are several new music books).
Good Night from
