Heatwave?
Not yet, it ain't - not here anyway. At least the rain stayed negligible - "light rain", the weather app said, and there were looming black clouds from time to time, but only the odd drip of wet as far as I was aware.
Being as short-winded (is that a thing?) as I can, because I have a very early start tomorrow: I had a long lie this morning because I could. I did my Italian after breakfast, went shopping after coffee. ("Wrong day, wrong time" a chap stocking shelves observed.) Managed not to spend too long over lunch, and didn't fall asleep. Dealt with an annoying firm online - one of these from which you buy one item and they then bombard you with messages saying "now you're in our club". Captioned the Pompeii photos I'd uploaded to Flickr, and realised how little I'd been able to take in of the really interesting stuff because it was simply too busy. (I found out some of it retrospectively from books. How old-fashioned.)
We went out before dinner because that's what we do. The photo above is from that walk - I love these strange dangling grasses on the approach to the bridge at the foot of the church drive. We returned along the West Bay, laughing at a large gang of eider ducks chatting away while another family (about 10 in line astern) joined them. We had dinner at a reasonable hour and went to online Compline.
And now I'm off to bed and it's not quite dark yet and a blackbird is still singing all on its own ...
