Out and about

A busier day today - the start of new four week block for my regular class, my weekly cearcall comhraidh (conversation circle), a committee meeting for one of the local groups I am involved in (which morphed into a general chat and catch up) and then walk home the long way stopping off at the theatre where T and two friends were playing in the foyer.  All good fun and paradoxically I felt more energetic than at the start of the week when I didn't have fixed commitments.  I sometimes think that the goal of retirement is to achieve the optimal balance between fixed commitments which give a structure to your time and freedom to be more spontaneous. If so, it is a work in progress in my case.

We had a lovely time at A&M's last night. They had friends staying (C&R) who grew up in the south of Glasgow near where I grew up a few years later, R and M started teaching at Strathclyde when I started as a student and T spent a year living and working in Detroit where C&R now live.  It is a small world at times!
