Beach
At last a return to the Solway coast. Blipper and camera club friend, Nick_Tippey rang me to arrange another outing. He wanted to do some coastal work so off we went. This beach is the one at Crosscanonby road end, where you will see four pieces of wood sticking out of the sand. Nearby is Saltpans. As the names suggests salt was produced in round 'pans.' Maybe the four pieces of wood were connected to that salt production. Wide open spaces; beautiful. As you can see the sun is shining, but it isn't always like this. This coastline is protected in places, with large stone blocks (as you can see.) Further along the B5300 is Dubmill Point where waves crash over the road whenever it is stormy.
There is a small Roman fort here too, part of Hadrian's Wall, but the actual wall stops at Bowness on Solway, with regular forts spaced along the coast to Ravenglass.
